Traveling With Alayne This July

My friends all say that I am on some Eat Pray Love journey through Europe, I don't know.. what I do know that my first stop in Copenhagen of my 3 week journey is taking me on a path of pure joy. I have never taken this much time off, especially alone, but as you can see here with my friend, Sten who is showing me how to eat an official Denmark hot dog at a traditional stand, I am having a great time. (note the alayne white spa tee shirt i already got him to wear on the first day! I got all my freinds to wear them though copenhagen on July 4th! Pictures to follow)

Traveling alone is one of my favorite things to do as a woman. I love to prove that I can get by especially in a country like Denmark, where there are not so many American tourists traveling. I get the real experience of a european country. This journey is about traveling alone but meeting people who live here and hanging out with them. I started briefly in the Paris airport and immediately was reminded of the smells when i was in my early 20s going to paris alone for a month. French perfume, handsome men, great eye glasses on everyone, Paris is about beauty and I am disappointed that I did not book more time here besides just a stopover. Denamrk awaits though and I am anxious to meet my friends who will be my hosts for the next 5 days in their country, staying at their home both outside of Coepnhagen and an overnight at their amaZING summer home on the coast. I am blessed to have friends in many places and these friends are the parents of some dear friends in Bristol whom i have gotten to know since my son and their son have been friends since Kindergarten. Denmark does not disappoint and I am in love with its flavor, its charm, its autheniticity and its health. Everyone rides bikes everywhere here. It is special, so special that I bought a very snazzy bike in Christania, a crazy hippie town that must be seen to fully appreciate. When i put the picture of the bike up, I am sure you will get an idea. One more day here and then tomorrow off to the Danish Resistance museum and then I must say goodbye to Denamark and head off ot Menorca, a small island near Mellorca off the coast of Spain to visit some more friends.

I have wondered about the beauty business here and have seen very little of it, spas apparently are not a big deal here. Women are beautiful, but natural, blonde blonde and more blonde, tall funky dressers, not much makeup, not much glam but simple elegance would be how I would explain this so far. If my plans to expand my spa business into Europe relied on Copenhagen, I think i would be out of luck, Nonetheless, the Danish women are lovely and more importantly healthy as they ride their bikes everywhere in skirts, in high heels and sandals. Lots of beer drinking, lots of light as it stays light until almost 10pm in the summer probably to make up for the lack of light in the winter which according to my hosts can be very depressing. I am in love here. Copenhagen has surprised and delighted and I will come back again and recommend it to many people. Favelle as they say in danish, Goodbye for now, See you in Spain.
