Little butts, smiling faces, sun hats. Tan and not so tan bodies, screeching, laughing, whining, running. Goggles, Speedos, tan and insecure, fit bodies. Youth, love, nagging, Jersey and New York accents. Talk of the flavor of salt water flavored with warnings and precaution .

Bring on Spring

Why is it that February is such a short month, but seems so long? Thank goodness it is so short, with all of this negative talk in the media and the cold weather here in New England, I must say having a dog this winter has been a blessing on so many levels.

unsolicited advice for this month of love

i don't know about you, but if I put the tv on one more time and hear the same doom and gloom I think I am going to lose it. It is amazing how the media has such a hold over the way we decide to live and it is even more amazing how we let it influence our decision making. We continue to watch and grow more fearful when we do. What makes our human nature cling to every word they say? It is remarkable because if we have people in our lives that are constantly complaining and spewing the same doom and gloom, we tend to move away from those relationships, but when the media is doing the same, we cling to it like there is no tomorrow.

Frankie Comes to the Whitehouse

I am not sure why, but I have never really been a dog person. This may sound odd to those of you who either know me or know of our annual Mother Dog Spa Day or the perpetual treats I have for the walk by doggies in Providence, but I have always loved the connection of people, especially women, and their dogs and I guess that has made me a dog person by osmosis. Don't get me wrong, I love dogs, I had just never found a dog that I have felt that personal connection with like proud dog owners brag about.

A Letter to My Son for his 11th Birthday

My dearest Michael, I write this on late Christmas eve and I am reminded that you are moving into the next phase of your life as your 11th birthday approaches just 2 short days away. I remember like it was yesterday daddy and I driving to the hospital in the wee hours of the morning to prepare for your arrival into this world of ours, getting ready to change our lives for so much the better.
