To Spa Or Not To Spa

I was at a great function the other night where I met about 14 women who all work in a prison type environment, not quite a prison, but more of a holding facility where many of the inmates are on their way to prison and are awaiting the outcome. Clearly, this is a different environment than the one I go to work to everyday and we had some great conversation about going to a spa.

I was explaining my spa, alayne white spa, and it occurred to me that I needed to explain why we are so different, what makes alayne white spa more exceptional than most experiences. I decided to blog about the trials and tribulations that so many women face in not only choosing what spa to go to but more importantly whether or not to even step foot in a spa.

Here are some great friends of alayne at a spa night for couples in our providence location.

Business Coaching from a Woman’s Perspective

There are amazing programs and coaching advisors out there, but of all the advice I have seen over the years, I have always felt that male advisors don't always get what it is like to be a woman in business. Because of this, I have created powerful one on one coaching sessions, business and event presentations, and guest speakings lectures specific to women by a woman who understands the dynamics of owning and running a company AND a family.

These workshops are available as event presentations or as individualized coaching for you and/or your team. You can also get a few businesses together for a group session.

When momma’s happy, everyone’s happy

Posted by: Kristine Gausland, spa goddess extraordinaire

I have a challenge for all women out there that seems simple in concept but sometimes difficult to implement.  Make and take time to take care of yourself! This means different things to different women, for me (mom, spa goddess, wife, sister, daughter, etc....) “care” means regular facials/peels, not because I am a skin therapist, but because when I look in the mirror and my skin looks great it trickles over into all aspects of my life.

Will I break out after a facial?

Posted by: Jenna Pineau, skin therapist and alayne white spa team leader.

I'm too afraid to get a facial because I fear I might break out."

This is a common fear among women and men who haven't had a facial.

First and foremost what is "breaking out" to you?  Is it one pimple?  Is it bumpiness on the chin and jaw?  Is it blackheads?  Is your skin super sensitive or does it have a tendency to break out at certain times of the month?  Did you have breakouts prior to your first facial. What do you use on your skin?  Do you wax or use depilatories? What's your main goal? These are all questions (and many more) we ask so that we can customize a facial for your skin type and concern.

If you have clear skin with minor breakouts the truth is that you will most likely not have any problems. And if you do have congested skin most likely you will be on a path to having clearer skin after your first facial.

A moment in april

Little butts, smiling faces, sun hats. Tan and not so tan bodies, screeching, laughing, whining, running. Goggles, Speedos, tan and insecure, fit bodies. Youth, love, nagging, Jersey and New York accents. Talk of the flavor of salt water flavored with warnings and precaution .
